Larta Awarded $3.3M to Fuel LA’s Life Sciences Growth
California has awarded $23.9M through the California Jobs First Regional Investment Initiative to the LA Collaborative to accelerate inclusive growth in the county’s life sciences sector.
As part of this landmark investment, Larta Institute will receive $3.3M for its Fueling Sustainable Capital project. This funding expands our Heal.LA platform and launches a catalytic capital fund to help promising bioscience and medtech companies grow and scale in Los Angeles County.
Larta joins partners including the Los Angeles County Department of Economic Opportunity, BioscienceLA, and LAEDC to ensure LA’s bioeconomy grows in a way that is inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive.
Larta Institute is excited to share that we’ve received a two-year grant from The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation to grow our Community Labs programs—Heal.LA and Venture Fellows.
This support will help more local entrepreneurs and innovators access mentorship, technical assistance, and connections to capital, while piloting bold solutions in neighborhoods where they can make the greatest impact.
Since 1993, Larta has partnered with over 6,000 entrepreneurs, generating $7B in follow-on funding. With the Broad Foundation’s partnership, we’re deepening that legacy right here in LA—ensuring the benefits of innovation reach underrepresented communities, small businesses, and local changemakers.
